Here is episode 3 of On My Jacks. Check out backstage footage of me at the UK AMA’s and find out what really happened when I went on stage to present an award to Jay Sean for Best Urban Act with the head of Lebara Mobile. The dude only had to announce the nominations…he still managed to mess up but I forgive him because it was quite hilarious! This is the uncut version that you didn’t see on the BBC 1 red button!

A few weeks ago I was asked to be apart of The VIP Appeal which is a campaign by the National Blood Service (NBS) targeting South Asian, Black African and Black Caribbean communities to give blood and help meet the need for rare blood types within ethnic minority communities.

I chatted to Kalpna Patel who suffers from a disease called Sickle Cell Beta Thalassemia. As a young child she received a complete blood transfusion which means that all of the blood in her body was taken out and replace with new blood. Kalpna has had to do this once in her life so far but some people that suffer from this disease must have regular blood transfusions every two weeks.

I was surprised when I discovered that our blood type is specific to our ethnic origin. The fact that only 1 percent of South Asian’s in the UK donate blood means that there is a shortage of blood for people who suffer from diseases like Thalassemia Major, in my community.

I donated blood for the very first time and I encourage everyone within the South Asian and Black communities to consider doing the same.

I was absolutely freezing while shooting this video in the studio….but it was all worth it :)

Big up to Bobby Friction for appearing on national television today to defend The BBC Asian Network.

He told Jon Snow that other commercial radio stations in the UK offered a very different service to that of the Asian Network – some were religious, some were nationalistic, whereas the Asian Network was a “British Asian space – a space where most licence fee payers also live”.

What are you’re views on this debate?

Here is episode 2 of my new “On My Jacks” Youtube series.

I caught up with Jay Sean to pre record this interview for my radio show which was broadcast live on The BBC Asian Network on Friday 26th February 2010.
