My good friends Kunal Merchant and Seif Al-Din from NYC, (my second home), have put together this wicked remix project of Jay-Z’s 2007 album, American Gangster. They go under the production name of Music Without Borders and they’re an incredibly talented duo that you need to keep and eye on!
The album is called Hindustani Gangster and here is a little blurb about the project:
Inspired by Indian cinema of the 70′s and Jay-Z’s critically acclaimed concept album, “American Gangster,” “Hindustani Gangster” tells the passionate tale of a Mumbai hustler’s sordid lifestyle.
Through the culmination of Jay’s great story, and sounds that range from Bollywood to Bhangra – via heavy emotive melodies and basslines – Music Without Borders has crafted a piece that is intended for the true music connoisseur.
If you missed the VH1 Hip Hop Honors like me then check this video out of Eminem, The Root’s and DJ Jazzy Jeff doing his famous “Rock The Bells” routine, honoring LL Cool J.
I just finished interviewing Bluey Robinson for my radio show. If you’ve never heard of him you should check out some of the youtube videos of him busking on the underground in London and Paris. He is a very talented guy and I was lucky enough to have him recorded a live acoustic session for my show which you can hear this Friday 16th October.
After the interview, I took him outside the BBC studios and recorded this just to give you a little taste of what to expect from him on Friday.
I got him to sing “Off The Wall” which is one of my favorite MJ songs of all time! Big up to James on the guitar!
If you have experienced drug addiction or know someone close to you who has, I think a show like this is important to watch. From personal experience, I have realised that there is always a story behind people in this situation and unless you have experienced addiction yourself, you will never fully understand what they are going through.
I’m not sure if this show will be airing in the UK but I hope it does.
